FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

March 15th, 2007, Hartford Connecticut: The Pakistani American Association of Connecticut (PAACT) and the Pakistani American Public Affairs Committee (PAKPAC) will increase the reward money to $5000 to any individual or group whose material information leads to the arrest and conviction of the murderers of Mr. Javed Akhtar. This increase is planned because of support from Sam's Food Stores and permission granted by the East Windsor Police Department. We want to thank the East Windsor Police Department, who with their limited resources, have been working diligently to help solve this case and we ask anyone with information on this case to call the police at 860-292-8240, ext. 112 or 113.

Mr. Akhtar's untimely death has had a tremendous impact on his family. His wife has been affected by a previous accident and is disabled. She will be the primary caregiver to their 7 year old twin children (a boy and a girl). To help support the family the organizations have set up a support account for Mr. Akhtar. If anyone wants to help the family through this difficult situation, we encourage sending financial support by making a tax deductible contribution to "PAACT" (in memo write "Javed Akhtar Support") and mail to PAACT: PO Box 769, South Windsor, CT 06074-769.
