Pakistani American Shot while working in Broad Brook:

32 year old Mr. Javed Akhtar of Enfield CT. was shot in the neck while working in a store in Broad Brook, Monday evening the 28th of Feb 2007. He had significant blood loss and had to be emergently operated upon and remained in critical condition in Hartford Hospital Intensive Care Unit till he passed away in the early hours of March 10th..

According to our discussions with the family, nothing was stolen from the store. The Police are currently working to identify the perpetrators of this crime. While the most likely explanation of this tragedy may be a armed robbery the possibility of this being a hate crime is not ruled out at this time.

His wife has been affected by a previous accident and is already disabled. They are both parents of 7 year old twin children (a boy and a girl).
