Why Should You Participate in the Census?

Census 2010 is around the corner and it is critical for South Asians to accurately complete and return the Census forms. SAALT is announcing the launch of a new Census 2010: South Asians Count! Campaign with important information and resources.

Why should YOU participate in the Census?

  1. Information gathered through the Census affects your everyday lives and neighborhoods by determining where the government will build roads, schools and hospitals in your community.
  2. Information gathered through the Census affects your political power. It decides how many representatives your district will have in Congress.
  3. Information gathered through the Census affects South Asians. Do you want to know which states have the largest South Asian populations? Or how many South Asians there are in the country? The Census will provide that information.

Census Day is April, 1, 2010!
